Christmas in Sebastian

This is a wonderful town at Christmastime, there is "Light Up the Night" where the businesses in town all serve nibblies and shocase their services and wares and have a legitimate competition of who has the most decorations; there's a big parade with Santa and lots of local "actors"; A giant gaudily-lit Christmas tree is erected and lit during a ceremony at Riverview Park down by the Lagoon; Santa has a semi-permanent structure erected near the tree where he lends his knee to the little ones; we have the best high school Christmas musical, "Prism," in the state, and one of the best schools systems to boot!

Everyone in this town also pulls together to help those in need.  The Sebastian River Art Club this year managed to raise $700 for the Ecumenical Council Food Pantry to give to their needy familys.  We also sent over about 20 gifts for them to give out.  The Council is comprised of generous, giving, Godly, hard-working humble folk who ask for no glory, but just to do God's work.  They came to be presented with the check, and I hoped some of their heavenly dust would scatter around our Art Center over us all.  Truly good people who don't just do this work at Christmastime, but all year long.

Well that's all for now.  Best to you all out there, and if you are one of those folk who are thinking of moving away from all that awful snow up there our out west or whevever you are ... we've had the best weather in the country for some time now, and housing is cheap, living is easy, and this town ROCKS!  Enjoy the photos below, taken here and there in this beautiful paradise.  Sunsets abound, but sunrises are even better (but you have to get up way too early!)

Come to the Sebastian Art Studio Tour!

10/13/2014 - Just found this video on the Tour website (which has not been updated to reflect 2015's roster of artists, which includes your truly again) - click on link to see pics from 2013's Sebastian Art Studio Tour:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcEsSLr4cjw

Well, so far the forecast is 75 and sunny for Saturday, February 9th, for our second annual Sebastian Art Studio Tour.  We've got our signs, balloons, flyers, publicity's done, and we're spiffing up our houses and studios for the expected incoming crowd.  This is going to be a good one ... you won't want to miss it.  I myself have a couple of tricks up my sleeve to make it an even more memorable event.  Most stops will have refreshments for their guests, and you will be able to see where all that "magic" is created, where they did it and the tools of the trade.  An artist's environment is a unique one, and every artist's studio set-up is designed to suit their needs--one which helps to feed his or her creative inspirations.  List and map follows at the end of this posting

In addition to the 10 Artist's Studios, the Sebastian River Art Club's Art Center will be open for browsers, with Member Artists hard at work at their easels or plying their craft in other mediums.  In our wonderful gallery space there is a Bird Show going on (see below), with over 50 bird works of art.  Our club is on fire with creatve people, classes, shows indoors and at Riverview park, exhibits around town, workshops, demonstrations, and hunreds of paintings are on display there, created by our members.  Our membership is growing, and we welcome artists or artist-wanna-be's of all skill levels from newbies to advanced.  Even those who just love art are welcome to join - we always need extra hands for shows and busy events.  So stop in and be sure to see the Bird Show - If you like birds you love this one.

Below is a copyy of the handouts for the Studio Tour, hard copy of which can be picked up at the Sebastian River Art Club on the City Hall Campus, 1245 Main Street

Well, that's all folks, hope you can come to the tour, and if not then just stop by the Sebastian River Art Club any time - hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11-3:00, and some Saturdays.
